So, of course, when I was recently contacted to participate in a blog campaign by Gen-Yknot on behalf of Lipton, I couldn’t wait to try their new line of iced teas! Lipton has developed a new 100% natural line with a simple, all-natural ingredient list. This includes real sugar and natural flavors with no preservatives, artificial colors or flavors. The line also includes two diet flavors with no artificial colors or flavors. The delicious flavors are:

Initially, I had already drawn conclusions in my mind as to which flavors I would probably like and dislike. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I liked all of the flavors! The biggest surprise to me was the Passionfruit Mango because I generally don’t care for mangos.

I also expected the dreadful aftertaste that comes with diet drinks. Fortunately, I never noticed any aftertaste and really couldn’t tell any difference in the Diet Green Tea with Citrus and the regular Green Tea with Citrus. If you don’t mind sucralose and are counting calories, then go with the diet version and you won’t sacrifice any flavor or be haunted by a bitter aftertaste.

As a proper southern tea drinking lady, I like my tea hot AND cold. I was pleased to find that it tasted great cold, at room temperature and warmed!

It is also obvious that Lipton put great thought into the packaging of their new line. I found the bottle packaging and shape to be extremly friendly to my small hand and fingers. The bottle is shaped smaller in the middle with “grooves” for easy gripping. I was able to hold the bottle without worrying I would drop it as I do with other drinks and containers.

The 20 ounce bottles range in price from 99¢ to $1.59 each. This is quite competitive with sodas and other convenience drinks. I’m excited to have a natural drink option this summer while traveling, vacationing and shopping!

Overall all, I really like Lipton’s new Natural Iced Tea. In my personal opinion, I think the tea could be a little stronger, but it is still quite enjoyable. I will definitely be drinking more this summer!

As you may already know, my youngest son suffers not only from asthma and eczema, but allergies as well. Spring and summer really do a number on him. He LOVES the outdoors, but it’s a constant battle to keep his allergies under control so he can enjoy them. Usually, the medicine makes him drowsy.

The only problem I’ve found with Alice is I’ve become and Alice-aholic.  I’m always thinking of something I need that she can take care of for me.  I wish she’d deliver ice cream.  Then I’d be 100% happy! 

P.S.  I’m not sure if Alice was intended to be Alice in Wonderland “Alice”, but as a busy mom, I’d rather have the Brady Bunch Alice working with me any day!

One of the worst things about the baby tub I used for my babies was how bulky it was.  I never knew where to store it, and I was forever moving it around my bathroom trying to get it out of the way. The Puj Baby Tub is completely flat!  There’s a hole for hanging it up when not in use, and the tub is soft and comfortable.

When you need to give baby a bath, a couple folds and the magnets built into the tub join up and create a tub that easily fits into a bathroom or kitchen sink.  When you’re done? A quick pull and the tub is flat and ready to hang up again!

It’s a fun CD with some songs that I absolutely love, and think they did a great job turning them into jazz versions — like “Shortnin’ Bread” which is a song my mom sung for years, and I also sing to my kids.  My 2yo recognized “Sing a Song of Sixpence” from a nursery rhyme book we have, and thought it was great fun to dance along to the rhyme she recognized.  “Stomp Stomp” was a favorite of all 3 kids — as they stomped around the living room, and had me play it over and over.

I think they listened to it 3 or 4 times today alone, and my 7yo asked for it to be loaded onto his MP3 player — which is a pretty good recommendation if you ask me!  I think they have another hit on their hand with My kids love music. They all have their preferences, but my 7yo especially loves jazz. I’ve been a fan of Putumayo’s collection of music for a long time, so I was thrilled to check out their latest release for kids: Putumayo Kids Presents: Jazz Playground.

My kids are past the baby food stage, so I shared some of these with local friends with tiny ones.  They loved that they were organic, and how convenient they were.  One friend with a baby and a preschooler told me that she chilled the Plum Tots Organics Mish Mash, Strawberry and gave it to her preschooler as a snack.  He thinks they’re a special treat — like a smoothie — without added sugars.

I have also enjoyed being able to access all of my Kindle books from my iPhone. For those times when I don’t carry my Kindle, I can always read on my iPhone, albeit with a much smaller screen.

Amazon has just released an application for Blackberry users. You don’t even have to own a Kindle, you can download the app to your Blackberry (or iPhone or PC — a Mac version is coming soon) and then download Kindle books to read via those devices.

I’m still surprised how much I like my Kindle, but I truly think it’s awesome. The only thing I wish is that I could download books from the library easily — but my husband has a Sony e-Reader which allows him to do that for us both.  If a Kindle isn’t in your budget, consider downloading the free apps to read books on your iPhone, Blackberry or PC.

Mrs. Meyer’s Baby Blossom- Hair/Body Shampoo leaves her hair shiny and smooth, as well as smelling delightful.  I only need to use a small amount to wash her long hair. I used Baby Magic products for years, but I’ve made the switch to Mrs. Meyer’s new baby line!

It has a nice, wide area to spread across tiny lips and cheeks (and big lips and cheeks, too!) The balm is gently-scented, soft, non-greasy and so easy to apply. And, it works!

It’s about the size of 2 traditional lip balms next to each other, so it fits easily into a diaper bag or purse. I have used it on my 2yo daughter, my 9yo son and even myself! The baby blossom scent is fresh, clean and very natural.

I am very happy with this new baby line from Mrs. Meyers, but I think my favorite piece so far is the Lip & Cheek Balm! You can find it at Amazon and local retail stores that carry the Mrs. Meyer’s Baby line. Suggested retail is $7.99.

The design of the chair includes a 5 point harness for infants, and a removable snack tray.  It also has a basket underneath that allows early standers to stand upright in the chair, without worry of toppling over because the legs are very sturdy and stable.

You can see the drink holder, as well as the sun canopy (which is also removable.)  The entire thing folds up nicely (like a camp chair) and fits into a carry bag.

Lydia (2yo) LOVES having a chair her size to sit in during her brothers’ sporting events. We use the basket underneath to hold the carry bag so we don’t have to worry about it blowing away — and even used it today for her jacket after the temperatures warmed up at soccer.  We also use it indoors in the living room, since it is her perfect size.

1.  Cooking.  I keep the jar on the counter with our cookie dough scoop close by.  Every morning my husband eats fried eggs or omelets.  So just a little bit in my tiny cast iron pan, and voila – no stick. 2.  Spreading.  Ok, I admit I don’t do this much but my oldest daughter loves it on crackers or a slice of bread with jelly, etc.  She’ll actually even just lick the spoon after scooping some out for something.

5.  Dry skin – I keep a jar of coconut oil mixed with my favorite essential oils by my bed and rub it on my sandpaper heels at night.  Softens them really nice.  Great for elbows and knees or other super dry spots.  Because the coconut oil is an oil it will start to melt when applied to your skin and warms, so use it a little bit at a time.

I was thrilled recently to receive samples of children’s sunglasses from Julbo. They are the only company that makes sunglasses for all ages — from infant to adult.

Lydia is wearing a pair of pink Julbo Bubble sunglasses made for 3 – 5 yo. They are new for 2010 and they are adorable!  The plastic frames are made from a durable plastic that is soft to the touch and fits her head snugly, but not uncomfortably.  The frames are bendable so I don’t have to worry about her easily snapping them.  She can run around like the crazy child she is and they won’t fall off!  They are lightweight and I think she forgets she’s even wearing them after a few minutes. The hinges are bendable as well, which I think adds to the comfort level.

She loves the color and I love the fact they wrap around her head to provide full protection of her eyes.  I also like the fact that they are dark.  They block 88% of visible light and 100% of harmful UVA, B and C rays.

I also had the chance to  review their infant style — Julbo Looping Sunglasses. These have no hinges, a very soft elastic band to hold it on an infant or small toddler’s head AND their frames are symmetrical so there is no wrong way to put them on! I wish I had known about them years ago when I struggled to find appropriate sunglasses for my kids.

These glasses are even darker – blocking 95% visible light and also protecting from all the harmful UV rays.

I highly recommend this brand because they provide a high quality product at an affordable price. We have gone through a couple pairs of cheap sunglasses, and these are far superior to those we picked up for less than $8.

If you’re looking for a baby shower gift, birthday gift, or for your own kids, I think these would make an excellent gift!  I plan to get a pair of Julbo Next Sunglasses for Nate, and wish they came in prescription options for Colin!

I had it on my wishlist, and have been watching it since it came out. Last week, when I saw the price for The Beatles: Rock Band had dropped to less than $40, I bought!

We got it last week and have had fun playing it a few times. It’s the same concept as Rock Band, but I recognize most of the songs and I like the Beatles animation in the background. The songs are more family-friendly than those in the original Rock Band.

If you like the Beatles, and you like Rock Band, then I think you’ll like The Beatles: Rock Band. We do!

Joy Bauer is a well-known nutrition consultant who has been working with gold-medal winning athletes, celebrities and actors. In her book she teaches the reader how the food that we eat affects our health. The right foods can be used to lower cholesterol, enhance your memory, get better skin, treat arthritis, manage diabetes, lose weight and treat other health conditions.

The individual chapters in her book provide the reader with information on health conditions such as PMS, migraines, cholesterol, etc. The author then recommends certain foods to eat and which to avoid. All information given is scientifically researched. Each chapter also includes grocery lists, meal plans, recipes and supplement recommendations.

Lydia (my 2yo) was fortunate enough to receive the one pictured to the left. She loves rubber ducks and the color red, so she absolutely LOVES this blanket. She shows everyone that comes over that her name is embroidered right onto the blanket’s corner and encourages them to count all the ducks in the panels.

The blanket is beautifully made. The blanket we received has a patchwork top of duck fabric combined with polka dots. The back is a fuzzy chenille and the borders are a bright blue rick rack. This blanket will last through numerous washings and will be just as cute as when it arrived!

Speaking of the arrival — I opened the box to find a cake box wrapped with organza ribbon. If you were giving as a gift, it is ready to give! I thought it was absolutely adorable packaging.

Each blanket comes with a personalized diaper tag, which we’re currently using for Lydia’s daycare backpack.

I love that the company was started by parents — because they were alarmed at the added sugars, preservatives and artificial coloring. They decided to offer all natural baby snacks so that parents had an alternative.

That’s a great goal — but if the snacks don’t taste good, kids won’t eat them.  I’m happy to report that all 3 of my kids loved eating this snack! (ages 2, 7 & 9)  I even threw a handful on my salad the other day and it tasted delicious.

I gave a bag to a friend who was headed out for a flight with her 18mo daughter.  She said the snacks were a lifesaver on the plane, and that they were the perfect size for her daughter to pick up and feed herself.

Because coconut oil is a solid temps below 70 degrees, it’s not always that easy to use it for cooking. Unless you’re brilliant like we are. Here is how we get the oil out for frying, etc:

We just use a cookie dough scoop (we have various sizes depending on what we’re using the oil for).

Our most common usage is for frying eggs and omelets, stir frying veggies and meats and … my personal favorite … popcorn! Talk about yummy. We have an automatic popper like this one:

so we scoop the coconut oil in there, let it melt as the arm turns and then add the popcorn kernels. The best part is, you can taste the lovely coconut flavor on the popcorn and you don’t have to add butter – just add a little salt and … mmm… mmm… GOOD stuff!

We throw it in smoothies too for added yum and health factor although when it’s winter our smoothie intake goes down considerably. And as I said before we even use it for moisturizer and lip balm. It’s great stuff, I’m telling you.
