I have also enjoyed being able to access all of my Kindle books from my iPhone. For those times when I don’t carry my Kindle, I can always read on my iPhone, albeit with a much smaller screen.

Amazon has just released an application for Blackberry users. You don’t even have to own a Kindle, you can download the app to your Blackberry (or iPhone or PC — a Mac version is coming soon) and then download Kindle books to read via those devices.

I’m still surprised how much I like my Kindle, but I truly think it’s awesome. The only thing I wish is that I could download books from the library easily — but my husband has a Sony e-Reader which allows him to do that for us both.  If a Kindle isn’t in your budget, consider downloading the free apps to read books on your iPhone, Blackberry or PC.

I had it on my wishlist, and have been watching it since it came out. Last week, when I saw the price for The Beatles: Rock Band had dropped to less than $40, I bought!

We got it last week and have had fun playing it a few times. It’s the same concept as Rock Band, but I recognize most of the songs and I like the Beatles animation in the background. The songs are more family-friendly than those in the original Rock Band.

When my boys try to play Rock Band, they inevitably get kicked off the stage — which slows down play for me and my hubby. Nobody gets kicked off of Just Dance, the song continues to play and players either receive points or not — but everyone finishes the song.

The premise is to follow the dance moves on the screen and gain points by matching the moves, while holding a Wiimote in one hand. My 2yo, 7yo and I had a ton of fun dancing to “Who Let the Dogs Out?” and “Can’t Touch This” among other lively songs. We did our best to follow all the moves on the screen and laughed while playing.

My 9yo decided he would just move his right arm that held the Wiimote and gain points by following the moves. It worked for him, but he didn’t have nearly as much fun as his siblings or I did!

The graphics aren’t great, but the fun value is very high. I wish it came with more than 32 songs, but I can definitely see playing it with the kids and working up a sweat while doing so! I recommend Just Dance as an excellent family game.

When I first got my Kindle, I realized that it needed a cover. I wanted it to be protected, but still easy to read from. I chose the M-Edge GO! Genuine Leather Kindle Jacket with Hinge and have been happy with it ever since!

My Kindle sits snugly in the cover and is clipped into place so it won’t fall out. I love the purple color of mine (but it comes in more colors if purple isn’t your thing!) and it folds back easily. I debated about putting it in a sleeve so that it was protected on all 4 sides when not being used, but decided that I preferred it being protected all the time.

The Wii Charge Station is on sale today at Amazon for only $19.99, which is equivalent to about 6 weeks of alkaline battery usage in our house. (My boys play often — and when I say boys I’m including my dear husband!)

In a year of use, we have had absolutely NO problems. It still recharges the remotes with no issues and the extra length of the rechargeable units doesn’t affect play. If you have a Wii, do yourself a favor and pick up a Wii Charge Station!

Yes, today is my birthday and my very extravagant gift is a Kindle Wireless Reading Device . My dear husband couldn’t wait, so he gave it to me early and I’ve been playing with it for a couple weeks now. I love it.

I didn’t know how nice it would be to read and not worry about flipping pages when one arm is entwined around a cranky toddler who will only fall asleep if held in a certain way (which she determines). I only need to press a button and the page flips for me.

The Kindle Wireless Reading Device is light-weight and easy to hold. My next favorite thing about it is that I can increase the text size with the push of a button. As I get older, it gets harder and harder to read text on a page. I am able to increase the text size so I can easily read the text without a problem.

One of the reasons I held back from the Kindle was the fact that I didn’t want to spend $9.99 on books. After a few searches, I found there are tons of free books available for the Kindle. Some are classics and in the public domain, others are new books that are made available briefly at no cost. I am also able to use a converter to borrow e-books from our library to read on my Kindle Wireless Reading Device .

This is probably going to be remembered as one of my favorite birthday gifts. Thank you, honey!!

We’ve had our Wii for a couple years now and we still play with it regularly. The boys have their favorite games (Super Mario Galaxy and Mario Super Sluggers), my husband has a few favorites (Call of Duty: World at War, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09) and I even have games I enjoy playing (Rock Band 2)

It is a fun system, and one that gets my boys up and moving and not just sitting on the floor with a joystick. If you don’t have a Wii now, I think this Christmas is the time to add one to your house!

One of the free apps I downloaded in the first week was for Urban Spoon.  This neat app allows you to spin 3 wheels — one for neighborhood, one for cuisine and one for price — and shows you different restaurants in your area.  You can lock down any of the choices, (like price!), and then you’ll get different suggestions that meet the criteria.

They also have a website so you can do the same thing online. It’s unique and fun, and has helped us find some new restaurants we didn’t know about.  I also liked that it includes reviews for the different restaurants, and the ability to simply vote “Like / Don’t Like” for the restaurants.

At first, I didn’t think I’d like to read from a viewer like a Kindle 2. I like to hold books in my hands and flip through the pages. My husband, however, loves to download digital books from our library and he reads them on his Palm. On a recent trip, I read to him from the Palm and realized that it wasn’t as annoying as I thought it would be.

The Kindle 2 is much larger than a Palm, so I wouldn’t have to turn pages as often. It stores a zillion books (ok, not that many – but it can store 1,500!) The latest version even has a “read-to-me” feature which would be very useful while driving or preparing dinner.

The clincher for me is that there are quite a few computer reference books available for the Kindle 2. Instead of carrying heavy books around when I’m prepping for classes, I could load them ALL into the Kindle.

Yep, they’re pricey, but I want one. I’ll keep hoping the price drops, or I can find a used one on Craigslist!

I fill it half-full with ice and pour in my iced tea or water. Even when I re-fill it two or three times a day, I still have ice in the thermos at the end of the day!  The bottle has a flip top and flexible straw built in.  The straw is sturdy and makes sipping easy and unobtrusive.

It was so easy!  I chose the movie, entered credit card info, then sent my husband over to the store. He swiped the card and the movie we chose dropped down. He brought it home and we all watched it.

When I woke up this morning, I had an email from Redbox with a code for a free rental!

While I still love my Netflix subscription, I was very pleased with how easy and inexpensive Redbox was.  I can see us using their service in the future when we want a specific movie and don’t want to wait. Or, maybe as a special treat for the kids if they’re good while out shopping.

The pockets on the side are great for her shoes.  Even though she’s only 20 months old, she has become quite interested in her shoes, and she will go and pick out a new pair and put her current pair away all on her own. The 6 mesh pockets are at the perfect height for her to do so. I was afraid that they might tear with all the use, but I haven’t seen any wear or tears.

The Kolcraft Baby Closet Organizer holds quite a bit of her clothes, and is very sturdy.  It fit into my closet easily, and allows me to keep her things organized and separate from my clothes.

I think this is something that we’ll get many years of use from.  I just wish it had come in a color other than blue — but it is a nice blue!

I found this neat little phone. It’s made just for children. The way it’s designed makes it easy for children to handle. It’s bright and colorful and has lots of neat sounds that any child will like.

The best part is that I program in the numbers I want my child to be able to call. They are pin protected so they can’t change them, erase them or add numbers to it. It’s also prepaid. No contracts to tie us down or take all our hard earned money.

It fits right in my child’s backpack making it much easier for them to carry. It also helps with the “I forgot where I put it” syndrome we seem to have at our house.

It’s easy to set up and get going and it’s very easy for my children to understand and use. I feel much better knowing that they are within just a phone call if they need me or if I need them.

Review:
This iPod is the first I have ever owned. I wasn’t sure what I was getting into when I decided to try this but wouldn’t be without it now.

I really like the slim feature of this iPod. I can carry it with me anywhere and don’t have to worry about it being big or bulky. That’s a plus in my fast paced world. I don’t have room or time for anything I really have to fumble with to get in and out of my backpack. Plus the screen is scratch resistant.

This iPod is so easy to use even for me. I don’t have a clue what I’m doing when it comes to these electronic gadgets. I usually fumble through or ask one of my well versed kids how it works. This iPod was simple for me to learn and use. I was amazed at how fast I picked up on it.

I also like the high quality screen. It’s slim, but large enough to make watching my videos and TV shows easy and fun. Seeing the music displays so easily makes it a lot more fun than I would have thought too.

It also has internet capabilities. I really like that. It can be kind of slow but with a little patience it gets you where you want to go and I like that. It doesn’t replace my desktop as far as searching but in a pinch away from home it does everything I need it to do.

The memory capacity is great on this iPod. It holds everything I need and more. I couldn’t ask for a better piece of technology. If you’re looking for an iPod that is slim, easy to understand and use and has the capabilities to do just about anything you want from an iPod I would suggest this one. It makes a great gift too – I bought one for my husband for Christmas and he loves it.
