If you are staying close to home this summer because of the rising fuel costs, then you’ll love this week’s show about Staycation shopping!

Many states have put up websites listing local attractions and even discounted coupons. Connecticut has a website that offers special attraction discounts only to state residents, specifically rewarding those residents who are staying close to home.

You will even find sales for home improvements or decorating so you can tackle those big projects that you never seem to find the time for. Keep your eyes and ears open for those sales because they may not be called “staycation sales.”

No matter what your summertime plans, enjoy your family and your time in the sun! Stay safe!

There’s lots going on in today’s show!

I know we’re supposed to be done talking about groceries but last month in Episode #41 I told you about the Angel Food Ministries and SHARE Food Program and how they offer very low priced grocery packages for purchase. Today I share my review of both programs and you can see the photos at the links below.

NOW we’ll take a break from talking about groceries!

Yes, I like to talk about ways to cut your grocery bills. There are many shows in my archive that are dedicated to that topic but that’s because we all need to feed our families and there are multiple ways to save money.

This week I discovered two non-profit organizations that provide pre-set food packages to families who are in need or who need to save some money during these tough times.

The first is Angel Food Ministries. It was started in 1994 and has grown to multiple sites across the US. You can order different size food packages, each for a set price but you must order by the deadline and you will receive a specific date and time to pickup the order. There are no restrictions to ordering based on income and they even accept food stamps.

The second is the Share Food Program. This is a very similar program with different sized food packages, set prices, and order deadlines. I’ll have to get back to you about whether or not they accept food stamps.
