I was so excited when the UPS man dropped of a nice box with this big jar inside:
That jar there in the middle is what came! Whoo hoo! The folks from Tropical Traditions offered me a free jar to taste test and do a review if I wanted to. You BET I DO! We go through coconut oil in this house almost as fast as water and I’m not kidding. The stuff tastes good and is great for cooking, frying, baking or just plain eating (at least according to my oldest daughter). We use it as hand and face cream, for chapped lips and more.
The hard thing is that it’s not always easy to find. Many of the national chain grocery stores have thousands of choices for regular old veggie oil or olive oil, but if you’re looking for coconut it’s usually off in a small corner or shoved behind something else. And most of the time there is only ONE choice – Spectrum (you can see that on the left).
I can get Nutiva Coconut oil through Peapod (LOVE LOVE LOVE PEAPOD) and Amazon, but usually I wait too long to get a second jar and then I’m stuck, blah blah blah. Anyway, we’re excited to give this new brand (new to us – it’s been around for a while) a good try. So watch for our first fully scientific (not) taste test coming up soon!
