FREE Santa Photo
My oldest is 9, and every year since he was born we visited the Santa Claus in the mall for our annual kid with Santa picture. I have always been amazed at the long lines, and the high cost of pictures! I think last year the least expensive package was almost $15.00!
This year, I noticed that Bass Pro Shops was offering a free photo with Santa. My kids love going there already to look at all the neat stuff, so this evening we headed over. Pictures with Santa were from 5 – 8PM, and we arrived right around 5PM. To avoid long waits, we were given a card with a specific time. By the time we arrived, all the 5PM slots were taken, so we received a card for 5:30 — with the assurance that we wouldn’t have to wait more than 30 minutes in line.
The kids scampered off and were able to try their hand at shooting foam dart guns, target shooting, and driving remote control vehicles. Before we knew it, it was time for their turn with Santa.
All 3 of my kids approached Santa, and he was very kind in greeting them and asking what they hoped for this year. They were not rushed at all, which really impressed me. (I had gotten so tired of the rush at the mall — and the hour + long waits in line!) Then they stood and their picture was taken. In less than 30 seconds, I had a very cute 4×6 photo in a frame. At no cost! Plus, we received coupons for a free kids meal at the restaurant in the store.
We were given a flyer with information about additional photo packages — all reasonably priced and offered with free shipping. They also offer a download of the photo for only $1.99! (I did go for that option, but ours isn’t available yet, which is why you see the shot I snapped with my phone.)
The kids played some more after their visit (my 2yo asked for rubber duckies and pink cake — LOL) and then we enjoyed a very nice, reasonable dinner in the restaurant. I really appreciated that kids’ drinks were included in the kids’ meal prices.
I know where we’ll go again next year!! If you haven’t yet gotten your photo with Santa, and you have a Bass Pro Shop nearby, I highly recommend you head on over!
