Review: Hank the Cowdog – Great Summer Read for Kids

Hank the Cowdog by John Erickson ranks in the top favorite books of all times for both my boys. If you’re looking for a good book for your elementary-aged kids this summer, I highly recommend checking out the Hank Series. Erickson has published 54 books in this series — not including some audio books that were never released as books.

My oldest has read every single one, and both boys listen to the audio books over and over again. No matter how many times they listen to the stories, they still laugh uproariously at the antics of Hank and his buddies.

The books are funny, and have some slightly suspenseful parts, but nothing that is inappropriate for young children. A few books have a little bit of romance, but again, nothing inappropriate. They are good, clean fun.

I think they’re the perfect summer read – and a great series to get a child started with.
