Review: Just Dance for Wii

I was looking for a Wii game that we could play as a family, that wouldn’t discourage anyone, and that would be fun for all. Our copy of Just Dance for the Wii arrived a few days ago, and it met all my requirements!

When my boys try to play Rock Band, they inevitably get kicked off the stage — which slows down play for me and my hubby. Nobody gets kicked off of Just Dance, the song continues to play and players either receive points or not — but everyone finishes the song.

The premise is to follow the dance moves on the screen and gain points by matching the moves, while holding a Wiimote in one hand. My 2yo, 7yo and I had a ton of fun dancing to “Who Let the Dogs Out?” and “Can’t Touch This” among other lively songs. We did our best to follow all the moves on the screen and laughed while playing.

My 9yo decided he would just move his right arm that held the Wiimote and gain points by following the moves. It worked for him, but he didn’t have nearly as much fun as his siblings or I did!

The graphics aren’t great, but the fun value is very high. I wish it came with more than 32 songs, but I can definitely see playing it with the kids and working up a sweat while doing so! I recommend Just Dance as an excellent family game.

I absolutely agree with you Melanie! I was fortunate to receive Just Dance for free from houseparty and my 3 kids and I have a blast. I think my favorite song to dance to is Cotton Eyed Joe. Now we just have to try to get my hubby in there too!
