Review: Talk Turkey To Me
Turkey and all the trimmings is on every cook’s mind this time of year. Talk Turkey to Me is a fantastic book about the perfect turkey and the necessary trimmings, but it is also provides entertaining disaster stories of turkey cooking going wrong.
The author, Renee S Ferguson, starts with an introduction on plain turkey talk: which size, fresh or frozen, thawing, preparing the turkey and seasoning. She also gives information about the giblets, stuffing and basting.
In the next section, the author guides you through different cooking turkey methods, from traditional open pan method, high heat method or oven bag methods to al fresco and not so traditional ways of cooking turkey. Each method comes with tips on do’s and don’ts.
Other chapters of the Talk Turkey To Me book include topics on planning a menu, carving the turkey and gravy, as well as information on stuffing, cranberry sauces, desserts and other trimmings. You will also find ideas on storing and serving leftovers.
This book is a well-written and informative cookbook all about turkey and its trimmings. A worthwhile book to ease the pressure of cooking a turkey feast for your family and friends at Thanksgiving and Christmas
