Thoughtful Gift Idea That Won’t Cost Much

This year, I’ve noticed that my boys have been asking for more time together as a family.  As a homeschooling family, I sometimes feel that we have TOO much family time, but I realize they want more special times as a family.  To help us all make sure we focus on making memories this year, I decided to make coupon booklets for the kids this year.

I used DLTK’s coupon template to make custom coupons, printed them, and will give them to the boys on Christmas.  I spent time coming up with things that will be no or low cost, but that will be special for all involved.

Coupons include lunch dates alone with mom, breakfast dates alone with dad, coupon to choose candy from the checkout line, blow off the morning and head to the park, have mom make all the beds, and more.

I’m also going to encourage them to make coupon books for each other.  They could make coupons to read their baby sister a book, or take on some of their brother’s daily chores, or fold the towels for Mom. I’ll do my best to let them come up with their own ideas, though, and not encourage specific coupons.

What low-cost, high-impact gift ideas do you have?  I’d love to read about them, so leave your ideas in the comments.
