When you need to buy the kids new clothes, do you go straight to your mall? Have you ever considered shopping at your local thrift shop? Why not?

This week my guest is Carrie Lauth of Natural Mom’s Talk Radio and she shares some insight into how you can save money by shopping at thrift stores for your family needs. Most thrift stores, or consignment shops, are well-known for carrying clothing but some also offer toys, books, household items and even furniture.

Carrie warns that sometimes you will find lots of items that you can use while other times you may leave empty handed. Don’t be discouraged by this! If you make this a regular part of your routine and you get to know the owners of your favorite shops, you can learn when they will accept new items and when they will have discount sales. Carrie even found a store that offered kids’ clothing items for $.25 each!  Now that’s a deal!

Great show (as usual). I loved listening to the suggestions Carrie gave about good times to check thrift stores. I never thought of that.
